At the official ceremony holding on October 4, 2018, the Ministry of information and communications of Republic of Kazakhstan, Transtelecom JSC, the consortium SilkNetCom LLP, and Kazakhtelecom JSC have signed the PPP agreement for the project named "Providing broadband access to rural areas of the Republic of Kazakhstan using the technology of fiber-optical communication lines". The project realization period is expected to be 13 years.
Zhanbolat Nadyrov, CEO of Transtelecom JSC, represented the company. “Due to the Internet access rural school students will get the opportunity to improve their knowledge, and the residents will be able to receive public services online. The efficiency and quality of work of rural public servants will improve significantly as they will be able to cooperate with the regional and state centers more effectively", Nadyrov said.
As a result of project implementation, digital inequality level will be decreased. Digital literacy level improvement and e-Commerce development will impact positively on Kazakhstan economy.
Thus, within the framework of the project, TTC will conduct 6,000 km of fiber-optic communication wires along the railways, which will provide 421 rural settlements and 1222 local schools, hospitals, local state bodies, police stations and other institutions with the Internet access at a high speed of 20 Mbit/s.
It was reported that already this year, TTC will provide 48 villages and 150 local state bodies with Internet access.
Zhanbolat Nadyrov also added that "the project will be implemented with the long term prospects, so the fiber-optic infrastructure will become as the foundation for a number of future projects such as Smart schools, telemedicine and "safe city".
